Today's music scene can be a challenge for any artist, trying to break apart from the norm of the common rock bands and pop duos. Possibly the biggest roadblock is determining how to stay true to their music without falling into the same bland category of every other band, or losing sight of why they started writing music in the first place. Fortunately for fans still out there, rare bands continue to come along who only play the music true to them, and refuse to put anything less than their heart and soul into every lyric and beat.
This is true of one band in particular, 'Avion Roe', who is brand new to the scene, and already taking over. Their new album 'The Art of Fiction' stays true to classic grunge-punk while holding it's own unique style with the help of lead singer Evan Lester. Still young, but a veteran of the underground music scene, Evan has no fears on stage or in the recording studio.
Stretching his voice from a soft tone of honesty and compassion, to a powerful and limitless force, when asked which he preferred he said, " I just love any opportunity I can get to sing, it's such an amazing release and rush to sing on stage." However using his voice without boundaries isn't the only way Evan finds a rush on stage. If your lucky enough to see a live performance of 'Avion Roe', you'll probably be shocked to watch Lester use the basic structure of the stage as a jungle gym, while continuing to sing. This clearly shows how true the third track, "I'm Not Afraid To Die", on their album is, as he pushes the normal extremities of a live show. Aside from a their live performance, the band also has no problem keeping your interest solely in the music; when asked if there was anything they would change, they responded, "We spent over a year writing and recording the album and are very happy with how it turned out, this album is who we are."
Avion Roe is the perfect mix of classic and modern rock, they're completely original, yet they're the band you seem to have been looking for. Keep an eye on them! They're going to be around for a while, don't believe me? Just check out they're name: Avion Roe. "Avion is French for the word Airplane and ROE actually stands for 'Rest Of Eternity' so in a sense this band is our journey for the rest of our lives." As described by lead Vocalist, Evan Lester.
